…For Those in Peril on the Sea.

In this section of our site, we hope to keep people informed about some of our fellow Harpooners who may be having health problems and other issues that may require the aid of Providence. So we enter these people here in the hopes that anyone who feels they’re on speaking terms with the Almighty would petition Him on their behalf.

Stand with me here upon the terrace….

George “Ed” Moorman, our very own Narwhal, crossed the Reichenbach this 28th of June, described as “[an] Anglophile, Cardinals fan, and a pillar of the Metro East legal community for more than half a century.”

He has written several works for some of our meetings that have been reprinted over the years in our Whaling News eNewsletter (including his rather fascinating take on “The Problem of Thor Bridge” in May of 2020) and even some periodic comedy routines in times past with such characters as Shernac (a Sherlockian take on The Tonight Show’s Carnac).

Born and raised in Edwardsville, IL, he earned his law degree from the University of Chicago and practiced law in various capacities (from public defender to associate judge and finally to solo practitioner) in the Southern Illinois and St Louis regions. In fact, his obituary lists one of his prouder moments as working with the Innocence Project in helping a man sentenced to 60 years in prison to prove his innocence of his conviction and gain his freedom once again after 21 years[!!].

A memorial service is planned for the autumn. You are encouraged to check the obituary for more up-to-date service information as it arrives. As always, if you are on speaking terms with the Grand Author of all, please keep his family in mind with your petitions to Him.

Update on Our Blue Whale (President of our humble organization): Michael Bragg is currently out of the hospital, recovering at home. As is mentioned with everyone who is listed here, we call upon any who feel they are on speaking terms with the Mighty Maker to please make mention of Michael for his continued recovery.

I will attempt to keep you updated on his condition.

The Blue Whale [Michael Bragg, the president of our organization] received this email from Susan Younkin.  She had replied to an earlier notice about the up-and-coming Silver Blaze event and Mr. Bragg asked if she was doing OK.  Her reply:

Yes, I am doing ok. Still taking a bit of time to get all situated from the move, but I have plenty of time! LOL Starting to see the doctors here. In my opinion, they are not as good as those I saw in St. Charles County, but they’re ok. I have a new 3 mm nodule on my right upper lung, but the doctor is keeping me on the same pill I have been taking, for now, and will recheck in 3 months. Get tired easily, but that is the same as it was. So I just have lots of rest periods during the day. But, overall, I am doing well!

Take care! Miss everyone, so Hi from me to all! (including Donna at the MIL) Take care of yourself!

“A day without chocolate is…..well…..just a day!”

As stated above, if you are on speaking terms with the Grand Author please put in a few words to Him on her behalf.

O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger’s hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe’er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
